HOW TO BREATHE WHEN EXERCISING is seldom taught at any level though plays an enormous role in our ability to perform.
Your mind/body has no idea what sport is, itβs simply physical and mental stress knocking your body out of homeostasis, and our breathing rate/depth rapidly changes depending on the intensity and therefore how much Carbon Dioxide (CO2) your mind/body wants to offload.
Nose breathing, mouth breathing, fast, slow, depth?? If you donβt have conscious control, then youβre breathing is probably suboptimal. In most cases dumping way too much CO2 - resulting in less endurance and increased mental fatigue.
** In the above pic Core MMA's youth team is learning how their breathing changes at different intensities, and how they can implement specific breathing techniques to better manage their stress levels and therefore limited energy reserves.
